GARY L. WHITMIRE, 60 LOVES PARK - Gary L. Whitmire, 60, of Loves Park passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was born December 11, 1954, in West Plains, Missouri, to George and Bunsel (Townsley) Whitmire. Gary was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Class of 1972. He went on to marry Allie Brittain on July 31, 1982. Gary was employed by Woodward Governor, retiring after 30 years. His hobbies included bowling, fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and taking care of his many pets. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA and had a passion for instructing youth bowling at Forest Hills Lanes. He will be truly missed. Survivors include his children, Dustin and Nicholas (Melissa) Whitmire; and several loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Helen, James, Bob, and Debra. Funeral Service 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Pastor Wendell Maynard officiating. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be submitted at sunsetfhmemgardens.com.

Thoughts and prayers with the family. I wasn't very close with Gart especially recently, but about 20 years ago he is the one who taught me to love bowling! He truly impacted my life with his big smile and caring personality!
