Gernivier Cholke Obituary

GERNIVIER 'GERNIE' CHOLKE, 94 LOVING MOTHER aND GRANDMOTHER ROCKFORD - Gernivier "Gernie" Cholke, 94, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. Born Sept. 10, 1916 in Medicine Lake, Mont. Married her loving husband, Arthur Cholke, on Jan. 19, 1946, in Rockford. Her work career included teaching country school, working at Woodward Governor and Zoltan Sewing Center. She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years. In 1967 she received the St. Anne's Award for recognition of working with youth. Her many interests included bowling, golf, dancing, cards and sewing. Survivors include children, Mary (Reg) Cholke-Kindlarski, Dick (Susan) Cholke and Bob (Debra Capriola) Cholke; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by husband, Art, in 2001. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road, with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of prayer at 9:45 a.m. Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago. Memorials may be made in her name to: Girl Scouts of America, Rock River Valley, 2102 Auburn St., Rockford, IL 61103. Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford chapel is assisting the family. i am very sorry for your loss. gernie was a very special lady, she was beautiful inside and out.she had a great sense of humor and she always made me laugh. but i know she is in heaven holding Art's hand as they go for long walks together.she will be truely missed
