Gilbert Wierschke

GILBERT E. WIERSCHKE, 81 CRYSTAL FALLS, Mich. - Gilbert E. Wierschke, 81, of Crystal Falls died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. Born Feb. 6, 1927, in Antigo, Wis., the son of the late Wilhelm and Ruby (Walker) Wierschke. Gilbert had logged since he was 10 years old and had a tree removal business at one time. He also worked for Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford, Ill., for more than 12 years. He married Marjorie Dunning in February of 1960; she died in 2006. He served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the local VFW and Faith Fellowship Church. He was a skeet and trap shooter and state champ in both Michigan and Illinois. Memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in Langenberg Funeral Home, Crystal Falls Chapel, visitation from noon to time of service; Pastor Cheryle Spicer will officiate.
