Anne,
It goes without saying what Jim has meant to me and our Beloved Gene for many, many years, You and Jim were our extended family and always will be,
The emotion of Jim's Death comes with a
broken heart and yet a joyous one. We all know his Buddy Gene has been waiting for him and I can only imagine the beautifulreunion.
You and I now have two wonderful Angels that will watch over us and protect us forever.
Peace and love to you and all the family Dearest Friend. My prayers are with you all.

I was fortunate enough to get to know Jim Freshman year at Boylan. We were in the same homeroom, #209. Early in the year we had the Dixon State Hospital Soap Drive. Because of Jim, our homeroom won, as Jim collected more soap throughout his neighborhood than anyone in the entire school. There is a humorous twist to this anecdote. He finished in a tie with another of our homeroom students, vaulting us to be the most generous homeroom contributor during that Fall of '65.
Both Jim and the other student appeared on the cover of Boylan's newspaper, hailing their charity for the less fortunate, the severely handicapped housed at Dixon State Hospital.
Except the other student who tied Jim had a different strategy than Jim. The other student got to school early and raided the barrels in other classrooms, gathering soap from them before turning them into #209. Ironically, their two totals ended in an exact tie, as I recall.
Jim's service, generosity, and compassion were first recognized at this young age by all with the eyes to see. Reading his obit, it's obvious it continued throughout his life. Whenever someone like Jim passes, a kinder gentler world mourns his loss, for such passings leave a whole impossible to fill. He impressed me when I first met him as a freshman; may his soul rejoice in the glory and rapture of his heavenly Father. May his soul, and the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen.
