JEFFRY D. BLAKE, 59 ROCKFORD - Jeffry D. Blake, 59, of Rockford, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, January 4, 2015. Born July 20, 1955, in Belvidere; he was the son of Donald and M. Elaine (O'Bryan) Blake of Byron. Jeff graduated from Byron High School, Class of 1973, and attended Rock Valley College. On March 6, 1982, he married the love of his life, Catherine "Cathi" Draper at Fisher Chapel in Rockford. On April 10, 1985, to this union was born their daughter, Allison. Jeff's first love was his "girls", and he enjoyed spoiling them with his cooking; followed closely by the Green Bay Packers, his love for animals and Western films. He was also an avid gardener, who enjoyed both drawing and painting. He is survived by his doting wife of 32 years, Cathi Blake; daughter, Allison Blake; mother, M. Elaine Blake; sister, Julie Accola; nieces, nephews, and other caring relatives. Jeff was predeceased by his father. Cathi and Allison would like to thank Triple Trouble for their help over the past year. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10th, at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State Street, Rockford; Pastor Wendell Maynard officiating. Visitation 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. My sincere condolences to Jeff's family. I knew Jeff from our Rock Valley College days. I remember him because he was a rare combination of nice, kind and smart. Jeff was a person who could articulate wit and humor into every conversation. Prayers to his wife and children.
