Joanne Applequist Obituary

JOANNE R. APPELQUIST, 76 ROCKFORD - Joanne R. Appelquist, 76, of Rockford passed away Aug. 6, 2010, in her home. Born Jan. 7, 1934, in Rockford to Estrid Erickson Johnson and Gust W. Johnson. Attended Rockford schools, graduating from Rockford East High School in 1951. Married Leonard Appelquist on Aug. 14, 1953. Employed by DeWane Livestock and Ideal Uniform Service, retiring in 1997. Member of Centennial United Methodist Church for many years, involved in various church groups, member of Swedish Historical Society and Rockford Lutheran Choral Union. Survived by husband, Leonard; son, Randall of Rockford; daughter, Julie (Arnie) of Wayne; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by parents; and sister, Ruby. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all of their care and support. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, in Centennial United Methodist Church, 219 S. Second St., Rockford. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Centennial United Methodist Church.
