Found an old calendar my Dad had from the store in 1931. The sentiment then is still valid now. Thought I would share. It was in Dad's things. I had it framed.

Marsha and Family,
Deepest symphony on the loss of a true friend to everyone. John always had a smile and pat on the back or handshake for everyone. He will be truly missed. Hold on tight to all the memories that you have.

Marsha, I just found out today of your dear husbands death. I am so very sorry. You were blessed to have been married for so many years to a wonderful man. Please know how much I am crying inside for your sorrow. We as Christians have the wonderful promise that some day we will all be reunited with our loved ones already in Heaven. What a joyful day that will be. Love to you from your ole pal, Nancy Leatherby

Our deepest sympathy for the family in your loss of John. Those of us who had the chance to know him were truly blessed. He had special sparkle in his eyes that always made people feel happy as he smiled at them. His willingness to help so many in emergency times with the best quality suits was at the very least admirable. We had four generations of his generous service in his store. His legacy will live on not only in his loving family & friends but also in many closets! Our loss is Heaven's gain! Fly with the Angels Johnny you earned your wings long ago!

Please know I am thinking of you all and wish I could be there as you were for us when we lost Dad. I have so many fond memories over the years - from playing in the basement and gatherings as kids to Christmas Eve annual visit to the store. John (and your family) hold a special place in my heart.

What a kind, gracious and generous man. I've always admired him. When my Grandfather passed away and my husband at the time needed a suit coat at the last minute, he was kind enough to open the store. His smile always twinkled in his eyes. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

John was one of the all-time good guys. Way back when, I went thru confirmation at St Mark and John and Marsha were with us all the way. They were selfless and tireless in helping our confirmation class thru the learning process.
I had known John from well before then as my dad Lawrence was a regular at his menswear store. I followed in my dad's footsteps as a customer.
I never knew John to have a bad day. He was the most cheerful and encouraging person I knew.
I wish his entire family my condolences and know that John is still smiling, just from Heaven.
