JOHN JAY MACGOWAN, 58 BELVIDERE - John Jay MacGowan, 58, of Belvidere died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born Aug. 8, 1953, in Beloit, Wis., son of Robert and Jean (Buss) MacGowan. Married Candi Burton on Oct. 13, 1984, in Rockton. Member of the Masonic Lodge of Belvidere No. 60 and John Hugo Kaiser VFW Men's Auxiliary. He was the drummer for the Union Pacific Show Band, and enjoyed boating and spending time at his cottage on Lake Koshkonong. Survived by his loving wife, Candi; sister, Bonnie (Ralph) Elliott of Arizona; brothers, Mac (Julia) MacGowan of Arizona, Alan (Pat) of Walworth, Wis., and Robert MacGowan of Beloit; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents. Service at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Kopp, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the funeral home. Burial at a later date in Shopiere Cemetery, Wisconsin.
