Mr. Laughran gave me my first teaching job at Rockton Grade School in 1984 right out of college. I taught his son Mike, coached at Stephen Mack middle school and Hononegah high, worked for Wes Morgan and Dave Martin, and still am teaching high school in the Chicago suburbs. He was a gentleman and a great mentor. My prayers go out to his family and friends. They don't make 'em like that anymore! Thanks Mr. Laughran...

We did not know Ken at all, but know Dave & Linda Martin, who were very close to Ken. They spoke very highly of Ken. He was very instrumental in Dave's career in education. We are sorry for the loss all of his family and friends are suffering.

My sincere condolences to the family and the Rockton community. Mr. Laughran was a fixture at Rockton Grade School from my first day of kindergarten to my last day of 8th grade. A bigger than life presence, you didn't want to be sitting outside of the classroom when he was walking the halls. I found that I was afraid of him, as a child will be, and as I grew so did my respect for his commitment to his students and his teachers. Rest in peace sir, you deserve to.

Ken was a neighboring superintendent when I began my teaching career, and was very welcoming and encouraging to me. Rest in peace, Ken!
