LESLIE F. POLISKA, 90 HOLCOMB - Leslie F. Poliska, 90, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, in Rochelle Rehab and Healthcare Center. Born Aug. 4, 1919, in Lindenwood, the son of Frank and Edith (Pepper) Poliska. Les attended Monroe Center and Holcomb schools. Married Rhoda Wills on April 5, 1941, in Holcomb. Lifelong Holcomb and Lindenwood area resident, where he farmed all his life. Member of the Holcomb Presbyterian Church and then the Elim Reformed Church. Les served on the Holcomb School Board for more than 20 years and also on the Holcomb Fire Department for 39 years. Survived by wife, Rhoda of Rochelle; daughter, Eileen Strohman of Rochelle; son, Gary (Ronda) Poliska of Chana; grandchildren, Heath (Kelly) Strohman, Michelle (Jay) Knight, Zach (Mandy) Poliska, Jana (Scott) Knupp and Bryn Poliska; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Amber, Kaleb, MaKenna, Kaden and Kollin. Predeceased by his parents. Service at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, in Elim Reformed Church near Kings, with the Rev. Gerald Dykstra, pastor, officiating. Burial in White Rock Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, in Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road, in Stillman Valley. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established in his name.
