LORRAINE K. CARLSON, 89 ROCKFORD - Lorraine K. Carlson, 89, of Rockford passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born June 24, 1924, in Rockford; the daughter of Kaleb and Eunice (Fast) Johnson. She graduated in the top 10 of her class at East High School class of 1942 and attended Swedish American School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1945. Married Harold A. Carlson August 16, 1946 in Rockford; he predeceased her February 18, 2003. Lorraine worked for Swedish American Hospital, Dr. John Foster, and Public Health Nursing, retiring in 1986. She was a founding charter member of Evergreen Covenant Church, where she was active as a church organist, Sunday school teacher, deaconess, and prayer chain coordinator. Member of Covenant Women Ministry and Swedish American Hospital Alumni. Lorraine loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were very precious to her, and enjoyed traveling with her husband to the Holy Land, South America, and 48 states. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Charles) Arnold of Rockford, and Steve (Cheryl) Carlson of Glendora, Calif; grandchildren, Tammy (Joe) Free, Andy (Heather) Carlson, Meredith (Mike) Abe, Ingrid Carlson, and Wesley (Faith) Carlson; great-grandchildren, Kaden, Peyton, Maya, Liam, Avery, and Atlas; and numerous cousins and other family members. Predeceased by sister, Doris Johnson. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N. Alpine Rd., with Pastor James Schwalm officiating. Memorial visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in Fairhaven. Private family burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Lorraine will always be remembered fondly by all she encountered. I grew up at Evergreen Covenant Church and loved her and her family. She will be greatly missed by all.

I remember Lorraine from Fairhaven. I use to sit and talk to her, she was a very caring loving person. She will be missed by many. God Bless the family.
