Marilyn Hallen Obituary

Marilyn J. Hallen 1930—2018
Marilyn J. Hallen, 87, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Pinecrest Community in Mt. Morris, IL. Born December 3, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Harold and Clara "Martha" (Beers) Trolander. She attended East High School, Class of 1948, and Augustana College. Marilyn married Leonard Hallen on August 27, 1955, in Rockford. He predeceased her March 13, 2014. She worked as a secretary for Northwest Steel Company. After retiring, she put her secretarial skills to work managing her husband Lennie's art shows. Marilyn and Lennie enjoyed many years together traveling the country doing art shows; which often doubled as family vacations with their daughters or granddaughters. Marilyn was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she was part of the choir and The Prime Timers. Survived by her daughters, Kathy (Gregory) Perry of Rockton, IL and Gayle Hallen of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Katie Butera, Margaret (Frank) Moll, and Alexandra Perry; sister, Dodie (Bob) McNaughton; and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her parents. Special thanks to all of her amazing caregivers at The Terrace at Pinecrest Community.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, with Reverend Mark Hagen officiating. Memorial visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pinecrest Community, 414 S Wesley Ave, Mt Morris, IL 61054 or St. Mark Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd. Gayle and Kathy I am so sorry to hear of the death of your mom as well as your dad several years ago. I lived a block or so away from you many years ago and had your dad as a teacher for art at Maude Johnson in 1965 and for 6th grade in 66-67. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family
