Marilyn Thayer Obituary
Marilyn N. Thayer, 88 of Rockford passed away at home Saturday, August 25, 2018 after a 6-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born April 20, 1930 in Chicago to Charles and Ruth (Waldo) Norris. Met her future husband of 68 years, John Thayer at Hanover College. A member of Junior League Rockford, Rockford Garden Club, Rockford Country Club, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Second Congregational Church, and Antiques Club. Marilyn loved to travel and plan trips for her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered by many for her Christmas Eve chili parties. Survivors include husband, John Thayer; children, Robert (A) Thayer, Julie (David) Whalen, Kathy (Joe) Sharp; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents; and infant brother, Robert. Special thanks to Mo and Northern Illinois Hospice for their loving care.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park.
