Naomi Vallem Obituary
Naomi E. Vallem, 90, of Rockford passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, in her home. She was born January 29, 1927, in Rockford, the daughter of Bengt and Ester (Sahlstrom) Johnson. Naomi was a 1945 graduate of East High School. She married Stuart A. Vallem on July 1, 1950, in Rockford; he predeceased her November 13, 1989. Naomi was employed with Rockford Machine and Tool Company where she worked in the payroll department. She later was employed with Rockford Township in housekeeping until retirement in 1992. Naomi was a longtime member of Tabor Lutheran Church, Rosa Regina Circle, Welca, Friendship Club, former Sunday school teacher, and volunteer in the church library and office. She also enjoyed volunteering at John Nelson Grade School as a tutor in reading. She is survived by her sons, Bradley (Jeanne) Vallem of Mt. Prospect, IL, Dennis (friend, Rita Zant) Vallem of Machesney Park, and Douglas (Karen) Vallem of Rockford; grandchildren, Katie (Paul Brocato), James (friend, Nichole), Todd Vallem and Michelle (Brad) Rudy; great-granddaughter, Aubrey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; and sisters, Helen Marander and Thyra Peterson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Tabor Lutheran Church, 2233 12th Ave, Rockford, with Rev. Jane McChesney officiating. Entombment in Sunset Mausoleum, Machesney Park, IL.
