PETER LOUISE CALGARO SR., 92 ROCKFORD - Peter Louise Calgaro Sr., 92, of Rockford, IL, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in OSF St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, IL. He was born November 28, 1921, in Rockford, IL, the son of Luigi and Mary Ann (Vernetti) Calgaro. Peter married Nancy Sturdevant on November 4, 1941. She predeceased him in 1988. He later married Dorothy Harding Graham on June 4, 1995, in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Roscoe, IL. She predeceased him on September 1, 2011. Peter was formerly employed as the president of Rockford United Labor, and retired from the Winnebago County Highway Department. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old westerns on TV. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Annmarie Calgaro of Roscoe, IL; stepchildren, Larry (Teresa) Graham of Fort Worth, TX, Bruce (Carolyn) Graham of Belvidere, IL and Marsha (James) Elliott of South Beloit, IL; grandchildren, Peter (Aine Sullivan) Calgaro III, Patricia (Reed) Martin, Christine (Eric) May, Francois (Matthew) Kelso, Theresa (Michael) O'Grady, Tricia Graham, Tracy Graham, Amanda Graham, Lyndsey Graham, Danielle Elliott and Jamie Elliott; 11 great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Peter Calgaro Jr.; and brother, Fiorina. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 5637 Broad Street, Roscoe, IL, with Deacon Mike Ryan officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
