Peter Unger Horner 1941—2018
Peter Unger Horner, 77, passed away at his home on August 1, 2018. He was born January 19, 1941, in Rochelle, the son of Fred F. and Elizabeth (Unger) Horner. Pete graduated from RTHS 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 - 1966. Pete graduated from Parson College with a degree in computer science. For many years he was a partner in Hub Yarn Co., in Sarasota, FL. Peter then returned to Rochelle and worked at Country School. In his later years he worked at Moore's True Value and UPS in Rockford where he retired. He was an avid antique collector, and enjoyed hosting family Holiday gatherings. Pete was a curator for his families past. Pete is survived by two brothers, Don (Adah) Horner and Fred (Barb) Horner, both of Rochelle; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Unger-Horner Funeral Home; funeral service at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor David Rogula officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Memorials can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Visit www.ungerhorner.com for online guestbook.
