Ruby M. Lindstrom 1934—2017
Ruby M. Lindstrom, 83, of Belvidere, IL passed away Friday, October 13, 2017, surrounded by her family. Ruby was born January 21, 1934, in Sturgeon Lake, MN, the daughter of Hartley and Augusta Cunningham Gray. She married Eldon Lindstrom on September 24, 1955, in Rush City. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2013. Ruby was a wonderful quilter. She also would sew the best dresses for her grandchildren. Ruby taught private piano lessons for many years, teaching hundreds of students. She was a member of the Elmhurst Lapidary Club. She was also very active in the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Elmhurst and in Rockford, Illinois. She taught Sunday school and played the piano and organ at the church. Ruby loved taking trips to Alaska, fishing, and cooking. Her favorite food to make was traditional Swedish meals for her family. Surviving are children, Allen (Pam) Lindstrom, David (Michele) Lindstrom, Brian (Teresa) Lindstrom and JoDel (Steven) Lafferty; grandchildren, Mardell (Brad) Nielsen, Rachel Lindstrom, Heather (Curtis) Lowe, Eric Lindstrom plus two other grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, George (Mary) Gray; sister, Joy Keuten; and her beloved cat, "Tinker". She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Violet.
Per Ruby's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Sturgeon Lake Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake, MN. Ruby and her beloved husband of 58 years, Eldon, will have a brief gravesite service for joint interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local Salvation Army.
