Ruth Ax Obituary
Ruth Elaine (Ross) Ax, 93, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in her home. Born August 21, 1926, in South Bend, Indiana, to Paul and Edith (Elliott) Ross. Attended Rockford College where she met her husband of 46 years, N. Eric Ax. They married June 10, 1950, in Mount Prospect, IL. They became "Mayor and First Lady of Oaklawn Circle" where they raised their family. Known as "Mrs. Clean." She was an avid reader, crossword master, and had "class without flash." Ruth saw her beloved Chicago Cubs win the World Series and loved all things blue. She was a connoisseur of oyster crackers and originator of Amah chicken and Amah noodles. Ruth will be missed very much by her family. Survived by her sister, Mary Jane Rue; three children, Ginny (David) Vogel of Monticello, WI, Janet (Jeff) Jacobs of Rockford, and Bill (Maryanne) Ax of Rockford; six grandchildren, Kristin Vogel, Anna Jacobs, Becky (Joseph) Picchioni and Jacob, Kelsey (Josh Benson-Hunter) and Will Ax; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Eric; and brothers, Bob, Mike, Howard and Dick.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at SecondFirst Church, 318 N. Church St., Rockford. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to SecondFirst or charity of donor's choice. To share a memory or online condolence, visit olsonfh.com.
