Sandy Houck Obituary
Sandy Houck, 78, of Roscoe passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at home. Born April 4, 1940 in Dixon, IL, daughter of Robert and Elsie (Brunnenmeyer) Reid. Sandy worked for many years as a Registered Nurse before retiring as a school nurse from Rockford Public Schools. She was an avid supporter of all her children's and grandchildren's activities and could often be found sitting in bleachers cheering or in the audience applauding performances. Sandy was married for nearly 57 years to her husband Walt, who provided her with loving care in her final months.
Survived by husband, Walt Houck; children, Wally (Jill McBain) Houck, Sallie (Brad) Phoenix; grandchildren, Jayne, John, and Sarah Phoenix; siblings, Bill (Jan) Freeberg, Bonnie Klamen, Marilyn Cibu; and many, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Predeceased by siblings, Jack Freeberg and Alice Vaile.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 in the funeral home. Burial in Willowbrook Cemetery, Roscoe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriner's Hospital for Children. To share a memory or condolence please visit www.honquestfh.com

So very sorry to hear of your loss of Sandy...last time we talked, she was in pain and you were caring for her...now that pain is gone and she is at rest with God and now before the rainbow comes...the storm must past...take care of yourself and call me if you need anything.

Sandy and Walt gave me a place to stay when I left home at 18. I worked with Sandy at Rockford clinic and cherished her friendship. Enjoyed helping with the kids. We lost touch over the years but I never forgot her kindness. God bless her and her family. Sending prayers and hugs.
