Sheryle Knott-Simon Obituary
Sheryle Ann Knott-Simon, 73, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully at Amberwood Care Center in Rockford, IL. on June 20th. Sherry was born at high noon on November 15th, 1946 in Rockford IL., the first child of Norman L. Knott and Beatrice A. (Hayes) Knott. Sherry was a graduate of Harlem High School in 1964. She married her forever love, Gary Simon, on October 3rd, 1981. They welcomed their only child, daughter Cooper, on April 22nd, 1985. Sherry was a fantastic cook and used this passion to start many businesses throughout her life. She owned her own catering business for over 20 years, taught many cooking classes to both children and adults, and was a successful entrepreneur later in her life. Many of you recognize Sherry as the owner of The Wienie Wagon from 1997 to 2017 and The Brick Café and Gallery from 2006 to 2017, both located in downtown Belvidere. Sherry loved seeing the local patrons at these businesses and chatting with them. It was the joy of her life. The other joy of her life was nature and art. She appreciated everything it its natural beauty and loved to take walks and ride her bike. Surviving is her devoted husband Gary Simon; daughter Cooper (Jonathan) Tobin, granddaughter Emerson Tobin, sisters Karen Chovan and Wendy (Tony) Knott-Comer, brother Norm Knott. She is preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of life will be held in the fall for Sherry. Date is TBD. Everyone is welcome!

Gary & Cooper, so sorry to hear of Sherrys passing, but will always have great memories. Sharing time with my daughter at the Brick and conversation with you all there, but my favorite memories were growing up together and some of our crazing things we did, like sitting up a card table and chairs in the river and sitting there playing cards,hoping the two cute guys that lived across the river would venture by, which they never did. My other memories of Sherry was her art ability, I always admired her talent for art. We will all miss her, but great memories. Our prayers are with you.

Uncle Gary & Cooper, I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Sherry's passing. Anyone who met her knows what a bright shining star she was. So many lovely things come to mind: Spending time at her apartment and playing with her old Barbie & Jan dolls, going to the Beattie Is Festival, cooking classes, Christmas day walks to feed the deer, the solar shower, hay baling, the tree house, that beautiful wedding at the farm, help and support with my own wedding and art. (Most of those memories involve you, too, Uncle Gary.) I'll miss her laugh and her beautiful smile, but I am thankful for so many memories.

Oh Gary and Cooper and family, soooo sorry to hear about our awesome buddy Sherry. Phyllis always shared lots of their great times together. Sherry was a beautiful soul. She inherited her father's fire and confidence, and her mother's love of cooking and the arts. I fondly remember her Saturday morning cooking classes at Colonial Village.....she was so cool she would let me assist in front of the group; mostly stirring but it was awesome. When she started dating Gary I remember they came and picked me and my brother and sister up to teach us how to fly kites...super cool. She found a wonderfully kind spouse in Gary, and their staying power is a testimate to both of them and their commitment to love. Her daughter rocks, her friends rock, and Sherry rocked. Godspeed Aunt Sherry.....I love you.

Dear Gary and Cooper, Sherry was such a wonderful, positive, uplifting soul that I always looked forward to seeing every six months at Dr. B's office. Not sure how I ever got her teeth cleaned with all the talking we did! Can't imagine how much you'll miss her...so sorry.
