Tim Oswald, 61, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born April 19, 1955, in Rockford to Ray and Betty (McConoughey) Oswald. Tim lived his entire life in Rockford, graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Rock Valley College. He worked at Cablevision, Morse Electric, and Lowes. He often offered his electrical expertise for friends and family and gave of his time however they needed him. Tim displayed a dry sense of humor along with a quick wit that unveiled a generous heart underneath it all. Tim had a great love for animals, adopting many of his pets through animal shelters and providing them a loving home. Everyone knew Tim as a huge Beatles fan, who enjoyed not only Beatles music but Beatles memorabilia. He loved sharing Beatles history and trivia with others. Tim was also a die-hard lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and though his life was cut short he finally got to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series. After a lifetime of living with diabetes, Tim generously bequeathed his estate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Tim expressed confidence that continued research would benefit those inflicted with this cruel disease through breakthroughs, and even a cure. Survivors include his brother,Tom (Betsy) Oswald; nieces, Jessie (Austin), Maggie (Nick), Kelsie (Andrew); great-nieces and nephews; former wife and friend, Kim Oswald; Kim's extended family; many friends near and far; and Barney, his beloved kitty. He is predeceased by his parents.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, with memorial visitation from 2 p.m. until time of service.
