Vincent M. Monti 1926—2016
Vincent M. Monti, 90, of Rockford, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016, at Morning Star Village. He was born April 8, 1926, in Rockford, the son of Morris and Edith (Nordenberg) Monti. Vince was a 1944 graduate of Rockford East High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn E. (Haroldson) Monti on October 27, 1945, in Rockford. Vincent served in the Army of Occupation in Germany after WWII. He graduated with a BSME from Bradley University in 1950, and was employed by Rehnberg Johnson Mfg. Co. as Executive V.P. of Sales and Engineering until his retirement in 1989. After his retirement, Vincent continued working part-time, aiding RAK Rehnberg and Ingersoll Mfg. with their RJ needle bearing assembly machines. Vince was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where he was chairman on the Board of Trustees, member of the church council, and served as chief usher. Vincent and his wife, Marilyn shared the love for travel which included over 14 trips to Europe and other countries. He is survived by his children, Bradley of Cincinnati, OH, and Jill (Mark) Wiegel of Rockton; 8 grandchildren, Mark (Diane) Spence, Scott (Cindy) Spence, Tami (Marc) Hacker, Alicia (Bryan) Schlussel, Elizabeth (John) Sullivan, Matthew (Shauna) Wiegel, Benjamin and Laura Wiegel; 7 great-grandchildren, Ally, Randy, and Lia Spence, Austen and Corbin Hacker and Charlie Sullivan, and Ellie Schlussel; cousin, Tom (Carol) Monti; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Suzette Spence; son-in-law, Robert Spence; sister, Elizabeth (Monti) Lindblade; and parents. A special thank you to Morning Star Village and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and support. Also, a very heartfelt thank you to Vince's nephew, Will, for comforting him with scripture.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Ave. Rockford, with Rev. Gerald Peterson officiating. Burial at Scandinavian Cemetery.
