Wayne Skorburg Obituary
Wayne F. Skorburg, 85, of Rockford, passed away September 9, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving wife, his neighbor Judy Arbisi, and the wonderful people from OSF Hospice. Born November 27, 1930 in Rockford; son of Stanley and Irma Skorburg, who preceded him in death. Wayne graduated from East High School in 1948, and attended classes at University of Illinois. He had his own construction company before joining the advertising staff at Rockford Register Star where he was a longtime employee. Since his retirement in 1993, he worked at Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels. Wayne loved the Northwoods of Wisconsin and the great outdoors. He loved his family and his wife of 63 years. He had a well-lived life. Survivors include his wife, Vida; son, David (Dale) Skorburg; daughters, Janet (Bob) Frey, and Nancy (Ron) Paquin; brother, Russell (Ruth) Skorburg and sister, Donna Brookbank; 2 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Vida and family, I was saddened to hear of Wayne's passing. He was one of the people who made my years at the Register Star one of the best experiences of my life. It was a privilege to know him. My condolences to you and the family.

My deepest, warmest condolences to Vida in the loss of her beloved husband, Wayne and to David, Nancy and Janet in the loss of their loving father. As a neighbor to our family for nearly 50 years, Wayne was cordial and neighborly. He was frequently out of doors, doing his gardening, trimming bushes or mowing his lawn, always ready to stop and chat! Our family loved him. Godspeed, Wayne!
