WILLIAM F. KEENE, 91 OREGON - William F. ("Bill" or "Bud") Keene, 91, of Oregon died Tuesday June 17, 2014, in Family First Shared Home of Oregon. He was born October 19, 1922, in Rockford, IL; the son of William F. Keene, Sr. and Mabel Lawson Keene. Bill grew up in Rockford, and attended Rockford Central High School. He married Bonnie Dale Forsell on January 9, 1944. She preceded him in death in 2005, and they were married 61 years at the time of her passing. Bill was an Army Veteran of WW II, serving in France, England, and Germany and was in General Patton's army during the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by Mid States Wood Products, American Chicle, and Rockford Tool & Transmission, and was a licensed insurance broker for Republic National Life. Bill was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford, past commander of VFW Post #8739 in Oregon, and belonged to the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge #1551. He enjoyed their winters in Florida and they lived in the Byron area for several years. Survivors include children, Carol Ann (Donald) Rundquist of Lincoln, NE and Steven William (Cindy) Keene of Oregon; grandchildren, Bradley (Kristen) Rundquist, Brian (Ranelle) Rundquist, Matthew (Cortney) Keene, Andrew (Amber) Wennerstrom, Ashley Keene, Jacob (Rachel) Keene, and Allison (Jordan) Kittinger; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, preceded by visitation from noon until time of service, in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon, with Pastor Randy Snider officiating.
