There were a few of us, in the Springfield High School Class of 1960, who had the unique honor of having Mr. Vincent for all four years of High School English. I remember him well as I am sure that the others that had this experience do also. He attended our 50th reunion in 2010 and we had a nice conversation.

I had the honor of having Hal as my English teacher, my golf and basketball coach, he excelled at all of the above. I also was lucky to be a neighbor of his and in later years call him a friend. I send Laurel (my classmate) and Ralph my condolences. He was a good man. I will end with this saying he said to me 52 years ago. Always play for bogies and the pars will take care of themselves. Good bye Hal

Though I didn't have the opportunity to have an English class wth Hal, his abilities as a coach, athletic director and personal mentor helped shape my life. His dedication and efforts for the Rotary Club were so appreciated by my grandfather, father and brother. Generations of Springfielders are so fortunate that Hal joined SHS and set the standard for excellence in education.
