Jeremy M. Gomez

Jeremy Mark Gomez passed peacefully at his home in Winooski, VT on Oct 5, 2010. He was 38.

He was born on November 9, 1971, to Mark and Jerrilyn (Nadeau) Gomez at Walson Army Hospital in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He attended Springfield schools and graduated from Champlain College with a degree in business. He was employed by the Sherwin Williams Paint Co. for 17 years. He began as an inventory specialist in 1988 and worked his way to store manager in the Springfield, VT store and was later promoted to the Essex and Burlington stores. In 1998 he received the Spectrum of Excellence Presidents Club award, the highest achievement a store manager can accomplish, amongst various other accolades. He later worked for Able Hardware and most recently at Glidden Professional Paints, both of Burlington, VT.

Jeremy's passion had always been sports. As a middle schooler he was diagnosed with a heart condition and was strongly suggested he only play baseball. He did not let that discourage his love of sports as he enveloped himself with knowledge and statistics, especially those of his favorite subjects, the Philadelphia Eagles, Boston Celtics, NASCAR and his beloved New York Yankees.

Jeremy was an avid bowler, a gift passed down from his maternal grandfather Ernest Nadeau Sr. He began as a youth bowler in Springfield and continued for another 30 years in many leagues throughout Vermont.

Jeremy is survived by his parents, Mark and Jerry Gomez of Springfield, grandmothers Florence Kendall Gomez of Springfield and Marguerite Garrapy Nadeau of Chester, a brother, Joel Gomez, his wife Stacey Albero Gomez, nieces Julianna Albero-Levings and Clairilyn Gomez and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandfathers Ernest Nadeau Sr and Manuel Gomez, an aunt, Carmencita Gomez and uncle, Michael Gomez.

Friends will miss his wit, humor, generosity and uncanny recall of sports history. His family will miss everything, especially his ability to light up a room with a story and the joy and hope he showed when he held his baby niece Clairilyn.

Services will be held at the American Legion in Chester, VT on Sunday, October 10 at 2 p.m. and assisted by the Davis Memorial Chapel of Springfield.
