Martha Reed Obituary

Martha L. Reed, 63, of Rutland, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington on Aug. 27, 2012.

She was born in Middlebury, June 13, 1949, daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (Haher) Collett.

Martha was a 1968 graduate of Rutland High School.

She was a member of Christ the King Church.

Martha had a beautiful heart that shined through her love for her family and compassion for animals. She cherished her time with her family and grandchildren.

Martha enjoyed traveling to the ocean in Maine, sitting on her porch in the sunshine and tooling around in her flower gardens.

Surviving are four daughters, Jennifer Reed of Rutland, Collette Hill and her husband Simon of Wolverhampton, England, Laurel Becksted and her husband, Jonathan of Hampton, N.Y., and Makenzie Godfrey and her husband Brian of Waterbury; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Lucas, Skylar and Liam; her former husband and best friend, Tom Reed of Hampton, N.Y.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Rutland.

Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rutland County Humane Society, Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
