Richard Rousseau Obituary

FOREST DALE - Richard "Dick" Rousseau passed away peacefully at Rutland Regional Medical Center on May 14, 2015.

He was regarded by many as a good father, coach, brother and a friend.

His surviving family includes a brother, Mark Rousseau, and his wife, Liv, and their children Markus, Alette and Eskill , who reside in Kristiansand, Norway; and four sons Matthew Rousseau of South Portland, ME, Brett Rousseau of Rutland, VT, Steven Rousseau and his wife, Margie, and Michael Rousseau of Forest Dale. His grandchildren include Ophelia Grace, Christopher and Gracie of South Portland, ME.

He is predeceased by a son, Gary; his parents, Raymond and Bertha Rousseau; and brother, William of Adams MA.

He graduated high school in 1954 from Adams Memorial High School. In 1957, he graduated from the UMass Stockbridge School of Horticulture where he served on the Student Senate. His service in the USMC began shortly thereafter and commenced in 1959.

As a father of four, he was actively involved in many activities and revered as an exceptional and loving father.

His activity in his children's Little League began 20+ years of service in the Brandon Youth League.

He is commemorated on a plaque in a dugout that was built in his name.

His love of school sports and the kids created long-lasting bonds that exist to this day.

To some, he was as much of a coach as he was the bus driver to the sporting events.

He was recognized in High School for his unerring sense of humor and ability to forge and keep lasting friendships which carried into his final days.

Memorial contributions can be made to St Jude's Children Hospital at stjude.org or by calling 800-805-5856.

A casual memorial service will be held at the Forest Dale Wesleyan Church on May 30, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It is located at 1895 Forest Dale Road in Forest Dale.

Arrangements are being handled by the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
