Stephen Kallio Obituary

Stephen A. Kallio, 60, of Rutland, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at his home. He was born on March 23, 1951, in Rutland, the son of Wilpas V. and Beatrice (Serviss) Kallio.

He graduated from the Rutland public schools and then went on to the University of Vermont, where he earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

Mr. Kallio had worked as a planning engineer for VELCO in Rutland Town.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rutland, an avid golfer and past member of the Rutland Country Club.

Survivors include his nephews, Brian Keith Welch and Ronald E. Welch, both of Rutland; cousins, Gary Serviss and Linda Mackin; and Aunt Teddy Murphy.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Carol A. Welch.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Tossing Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, c/o the Rutland Health Foundation, 433 West St., Rutland, VT 05701.

The Tossing Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
