CHUCK A KENNEY
August 10, 2023
AL Muller and i were fast friends (when i was in college at sac. state- his shop was next to the ye ol meat shop and i bought a Muller cello having played it in the ''white'' and loved it, my dad actually purchased it, and it was the envy of many of the ''then'' top area cellists.. it has a wonderful and powerful tone and ii have chcerished it all these years... Al was selling his skill and work too cheaply and beccause of his inner desire to upgrade the area musicians to finer instruments and craft , ii had to continually push him to raise his low prices to be worthy of his talent... he made a bow for me, and had it on display at a local bank window and also educated me in the way of fine string maker skills.... He had a great sense of humor, humble and selfless to a fault.. He worked on some of the finest instruments in the country and i was priveledged to have him as a mentor and friend... He was greatly underappreciated by the local ''celebrities'' and he cared deeply for the amateur musician and esp. the school kids, he worked very hard to get to be able to upgrade the average 'sch. instrument'' TO a good sound... He trained some students to carry on the craft but Cheryl MaComber was the pride and joy of his time training people..... he came from the bay area purposely to bring fine ''work'' to sacramento in about the 1970's time line... I miss him greatly= chuck kenney (cellist and public school music teacher)

Mr. Muller was in every aspect a real Gentleman. Our daughter has a violin and a viola made by Mr. Muller. The viola was his last, he was making it when his wife died and nearly didn't finish making it.
His instruments have meant so much to our daughter, kept her going through the hard times of practicing, as she felt compelled to honor Mr Muller and his instruments.
We met him in Tucson last October and got a big bear hug from him.
Mr. Muller you have meant so much to our family through your kindness and generosity, we will truly miss you, and the world is worse off for your passing.

I remember meeting Mr. Muller in the 70's. Our orchastra took a field trip to his shop and I remember him telling us about a cello he repaired that had been smashed by someone stepping on it.
He was a wonderful man who did great work. Thanks to God for giving us Mr. Muller for this brief time.
