Ann Michaels was born on February 28, 1922, in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Dr. Max Waelder and his wife Alice, nee Picard. After a long illness, she passed away on April 11, 2009. In 1938 she emigrated to the U.S. with her parents, settling in San Francisco. In 1942 She married Rudy Michaels, then on active duty in the Army. When Rudy was sent overseas in May of 1944, she returned to Berkeley, CA living with her parents and working in San Francisco. She was very active in support of the military, among them was the USO and the Stage Door Canteen. On Rudy's return, they settled in San Francisco while he attended Law School. Hi Larry.
I am sorry to hear about your mom's passing. I stay in touch with Marjorie and Karl Okamoto, and they both let me know, and forwarded me the obituary page. It's a sad time to lose a parent, I know it sure was when my dad passed away 14 years ago, but the memories are still very fresh.
Your mom's passing sure brought up tons of memories of my teenage years, and all the time I was able to spend at your home playing all sorts of stuff. I remember your mom so well in those memories, she was a really sweet lady to me and it meant a lot to be made to feel like one of the family.
My mom is still going strong at age 87. She is incredibly busy, but enjoying her life, which makes me very happy. She lives in Carmichael and I will let her know the sad news (altho she probably has heard already via her many contacts from B'nai Israel.
I hope you, Peter and your dad are all doing well. Please say 'hi' for me and extend my condolences to them. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. Take care.

Hello Larry

I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. As I read her obit, I realize she and my mother had a lot in common regarding when they were born, lived and when they married. My mother's birthday was Jan 20, 1922. She and dad married just before he was sent overseas in 1944 and they met prior to that in San Francisco. They moved to Sac in 1959.
My husband and I are thinking of you in this difficult time, and hope we see you at the reunion in October.
