ARLEEN JOAN RODDA HARMON obituary

ARLEEN HARMON Obituary

July 24, 1932 - January 8, 2014 Born to Arthur and Eileen Rodda in 1932 Arleen remained a life-long Sacramento girl. She enjoyed many summers at the family cabin in South Lake Tahoe, otherwise never strayed far from home. Arleen met her husband to be, Charles Edward Harmon, during their respective involvements in the Rainbow Girls (Sacramento Assembly No. 18) and De Molay clubs. After serving as Worthy Advisor of her assembly, Arleen went on to become a member of the Naomi chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star. Arleen had a life-long passion for reading and enjoyed her career as a librarian at both the McKinley and Belle Coolidge libraries. Arleen successfully fought a year-long battle with cancer, only to succumb to natural heart failure. She passed peacefully with her daughters at her side. We thank Dr. John Lee and the staff at Sutter General Hospital (5th Floor West) for their loving care and compassion. We also want to thank her many friends and extended family members with whom she frequently visited. She cherished each and every one of you. Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Harmon (1976) and two of her four children, Richard Michael Harmon (1987) and Cathy Yvonne Harmon Greenhagen (1982). Arleen is survived by: daughters, Tori Harmon Voss and her fiancé Gary Ellis and Annette Harmon Spalding and her husband Edgar; grandchildren: Christopher Greenhagen and his wife Amanda (Brooklyn, NY); Sierra and Jessi Voss (Vallejo); Nicholas, Erica, Catherine and Evelyn Wachs (Sacramento); and one great grandson, Tyler Greenhagen (NY). Remembrances in lieu of flowers can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Northern California or the Front Street Animal Shelter - City of Sacramento. Services to be held Monday, January 13, 2014, at 1:00 pm at George L. Klumpp, 2691 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA.

Dear Tori, Annie & Family,
I was very saddened to hear of your mom's passing. She was a dear friend of our families and she will be missed. We shared many happy times growing up on Arvilla Dr., and the memories of days gone by will remain with me for a lifetime. Good times with good friends. Wish we could go back in time to those simpler days. I am happy that you were both with your mom in the end. As heartbreaking as it is, it is a moment that you will cherish. Please know that I am thinking of you all at this most difficult time.
Love,
Tracy (West) Tillotson

I will miss her dearly. My prayers are with you all. Arleen and Charles were the first people I meet when I came to Sacramento. We were in the youth program at the church and later was the babysitter for serveral grandchildren.
