Armor Winter HARRIS

Armor Winter Harris passed away at the age of 99 at Mercy Hospital on January 26, 2017. Armor was preceded in death by his loving wife Maxine after 58 years of marriage. Having grown up in Sacramento Armor attended Newton Booth grammar school and Sacramento High and went on to graduated from University of California at Berkley in 1938 with honors where he was an active member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was proud to have served in World, War II as a Captain in Patton's 3rd Army during the "Battle of the Bulge", Armor was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Sacramento. He joined Dana Motors then located at 18th and K Street for several years before moving on to A. Teichert and Son where he retired as Executive Vice President. Armor was a member of Sacramento Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellow; he also served as president of the Western Engine Rebuilders Association while at Dana Motors, president of Interfaith Service Bureau, and president of Sacramento Better Business Bureau and was a founder of Valley Hi Country Club. Armor is survived by his sons: Kevin and wife Jo Anne Harris of Texas, Brian and wife Coleen Harris of Oregon, Grandsons: Michael and wife Kim Harris of Texas, David Harris of California and Conor Harris of Oregon, great-grandsons Luke and Keith Harris of Texas. A private military burial was conducted at East Lawn on February 1.
