Arnold Garverick Obituary

Arnold Gene Garverick, 88, of Sacramento, California, passed away on January 3, 2026. Born on March 23, 1937, in Mansfield, Ohio and growing up in Crestline, Ohio, Arnold was a devoted husband to Mary Louise Garverick and a loving father to Louise Bonner, Ron Garverick, and Lynn Garverick.

Arnold was hard-working and dedicated. He spent over 25 years working at the Sacramento County Probation Department, where he was known for his strong work ethic and wanting to help kids through difficult times. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.

Though Arnold may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Arnold's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He loved gardening and his backyard. He was a constant supporter of Cordova High School Football with his friend every Saturday afternoon. He loved family and instilled that in all his kids. He was an alumnus of The Ohio State University (Class of 1959) and he never missed an OSU football game. He enjoyed sports, often spending his weekends with his granddaughters playing in weekend-long softball tournaments. His love for family was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary, his children, Louise Bonner, Ron (Greta) Garverick, Lynn (Jacqueline) Garverick, his grandchildren Bryant, Robert, Grace, Hazel, Lillian, Stella, Iris, and Eleanor, and great granddaughters, Gemma and Ava, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

We find comfort in knowing that Arnold's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. We are grateful he went peacefully with his family surrounding him. He was a great man. Anyone he met; he left an impression, and he will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Arnold Garverick at the White Rock Community Clubhouse-10488 White Rock Road, Rancho Cordova, CA, 95670 on Saturday, March 21st, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Mr. Arnie was truly the sweetest and most generous man. He wasn´t just our neighbor, he was family to us.

Our whole family loved Mr. Arnie so much. We will miss his warm smile, his kindness, and the way he always made everyone feel special. The girls especially adored him. The way he would cut fresh flowers from his garden and bring them to my daughters meant more than words can say. They loved him like a grandpa.

We find comfort knowing he is now in the arms of Jesus. He brought so much light to our lives, and we are so grateful we got to call him our neighbor and our friend. He will forever be in our hearts.

With love and deepest condolences,
Oksana and family

Ron, my heart goes out to you at this time of sorrow. Although I never met your father, you are the spitting image of him in every way. Wishing you and your family peace and comfort as you grieve.
