Arthur Kattenhorn Obituary

Arthur Kattenhorn May 4, 1920 - July 13, 2014 Art passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the age of 94. Born on May 4, 1920 to Henry and Annie in Sacramento, where he was a life long resident. Survived by wife Helen of 71 years, sister Minerva, children, Art Jr(Kim), Joe(Susan), Monica(Ron), Carl(Linda) & John(Chris), nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and Brother Ed. Graduate of McClatchy High School. Served in Patton's Army in Germany and Austria in World War II from 1940-1946, where he earned a bronze star. Began working at SMUD in 1955 and retired in 1982. In 1980, Art raised the first American Flag flown over SMUD's corporate yard. Art loved gardening, fishing, coloring, bowling and spending time with family. His favorite response to anything asked was "TERRIFIC". Family and Friends remember Art as a quite, firm, loving person. Art was never selfish; he always was there to help others. Dad: Thank you for being our Father, your guidance has been so helpful to us, with love Art, Joe, Monica, Carl, & John. Friends and family are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5751 Locust Ave, Carmichael, on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Reception will follow in the church hall.
