Audrey Schroeder Huisking, 84, died peacefully at her home in Roseville, California, on the morning of Thursday, August 28th, 2025. She was born on September 19, 1940, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Herbert and Carol Schroeder. Thanks to Audrey's father's profession, her childhood was filled with travel and adventure. This opportunity allowed them to live throughout the West. Columbia Falls, Montana, Bridgeport and Wenatchee, Washington, The Dalles, Oregon, Indio, and Citrus Heights, California are all places Audrey and her family lived. The frequent moves provided her with an expansive education, including elementary school in Columbia Falls, Montana, high school in Bridgeport, Washington, and community college in Wenatchee, Washington, then later continued her education at Sierra College in Rocklin.
In 1964, Audrey met her husband Mike at the Sheepherder's Inn while he was working at Aerojet in Rancho Cordova. They were married on June 19, 1965, at Holy Family Church in Citrus Heights. After dedicating herself to raising a wonderful family, Audrey worked in the medical field at Roseville Community Hospital/Sutter Roseville Hospital for over 22 years.
Audrey's love for Roseville sparked her lifelong dedication to community service. She was appointed to the Roseville Transportation Commission in 1974. She served continuously on several city commissions (Transportation, Parks and Recreation, and Planning) and retired from volunteer public service in 2024, marking a half-century of service to the City of Roseville. Audrey's generosity extended to her volunteer work with the Interfaith Food Van at Saint Rose Catholic Church in Roseville, and she also volunteered on the board of Excel Roseville Community Center, a non-profit organization that assisted children's afterschool programs.
To recognize her devotion and selfless volunteerism, the city honored her legacy by dedicating the Audrey Huisking Park in the heart of the Westpark Development in 2023. Her service to the city and our community leaves an everlasting mark.
Audrey will be remembered by her lively and vibrant personality; always ready to give you advice, whether you asked for it or not! Outside of her family and work volunteering, she loved to read, garden, and participate in various sports, including bicycling, waterskiing, and rollerblading. Her adventurous spirit carried on throughout her life, traveling to visit family and even taking part in watching baseball games with Mike and the family.
Audrey's legacy lives on in the memory of her family: children Michael (Cindy), Mark (Laura), Carol (Adam), and Matt (Caryn), grandchildren (Ryan, Cianna, Hannah, and Christian), brother Dan, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Her personality, generosity, and love of Jesus will long be remembered, and our memories of her will remain a source of joy to everyone who had the pleasure to know her.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 615 Vine Ave., Roseville, on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow in the St. Rose Parish Hall. Memorial contributions can be made in Audrey's name to the Edmundite Missions, Selma, Alabama or
Samaritan's Purse International Relief. Address details are online. Notes of condolence should be sent to Michael Huisking, P.O. Box 676, Penryn, California 95663.
