Audrey KANIK Obituary

KANIK, Audrey G.
On October 11, 2010 we lost a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Surrounded by many members of her extensive family in her final days, Audrey passed away with her husband of 65 years by her side. Audrey Grace Price was born in Youngstown, Ohio on September 9, 1922, the youngest of Sarah and John Price's four children. She was the last remaining member of that Price family. She left Youngstown to marry Lt. Frank J. Kanik, and as an Air Force wife she lived in Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Libya, Africa before settling in Rancho Cordova in 1962. Audrey is a graduate of University of California, Sacramento. She enjoyed traveling, and she and Frank traveled extensively throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Canada, Europe and Japan. Audrey will always be revered as the most loving and supportive mother. She was predeceased by her son, Frank (1949-2001). She is survived by her daughters Sally DeBellevue (husband Charles) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Nancy Kay (husband Will) of Eureka, California, who credit their mother for their abilities to make a loving home, keep good humor, enjoy music, sew, dance, knit, cook well, and to love books. Audrey's grandchildren and great-grandchildren will treasure their Grandma-knitted baby blankets and Christmas stockings, and will remember Grandma when an old song or old movie is played, and when they play card and board games. Her eight grandchildren, Andrew Kanik, Suzanne McCracken, Kate Philips, Michelle Brown, Ken Martin, Paul Kanik, David DeBellevue, and Molly Sheedy are blessed to have such a grandmother, as are Audrey's nine great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at East Lawn Cemetery Chapel (5757 Greenback Lane) from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 14th. Services will be held at the same chapel on Friday, October 15th, at 2:00 pm.

I will miss my Aunt Audrey very much, and will always remember the joy on my mother's face whenever she was with her sister Audrey.
It makes me happy to know they are together again.
My best to all,
John Barry
