Benjamin Hagan Obituary


HAGAN Jr., Benjamin
Born in San Francisco on March 21, 1932. A resident of Sacramento since 1965. Ben passed away peacefully at age 72 at Sutter Memorial Hospital on October 9, 2004. Survived by Julianna Hagan and their children Benjamin Hagan, Norah Sheren, Daniel Hagan, son-in-law Gregg Sheren and daughter-in-law Joanna Hagan and dog Rajah. Also survived by his brother Dr. James Hagan and wife Janet of Lake Port and three nephews Jay, Jeff and John, their wives Dana, Julie and Lori and their children. Ben was a graduate of Saint Ignatius High School, San Francisco, Class of 1950. Served active duty in the U.S. Navy. Graduate of UC Berkley and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Graduate of University of California, Hastings College of the Law, 1965. Retired from the Legal Division of the State Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. An expert in contract law and a member of the State Bar of California. Ben volunteered his legal knowledge and services to people 60 and over from 1995 to the present at the Senior Legal Hotline. Honored this year with the Legal Aid Association of California's Award of Merit. A lifetime member of the San Francisco Olympic Club and also a member of the Sacramento Turn Verein. Ben was an avid handball player. He was a gourmet cook, bicyclist, world traveler and he loved dogs. Ben was a devoted father and will be missed by his family and his many friends. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Friday October 15, 2004 at 12:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church, 1040 39th St. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior Legal Hotline, the City of Sacramento Animal Shelter, or a charity of choice.
