Benjamin Layton McIntyre

November 20, 1951 - May 7, 2025

Bridgewater, Virginia - Benjamin Layton McIntyre, 73, of Bridgewater, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

He was born on November 20, 1951, and was a son of Benjamin L. and Ella Mae (Astle) McIntyre.

Layton found joy in spending time outdoors and working on the farm, where he enjoyed creating and building with his hands. He was a member of the Harrisonburg Second Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Layton is survived by six children, Sean McIntyre, Nathan McIntyre, Maggie McIntyre Sahgun, Rebecca (Russell) Allen Mccloskey, Mindy McIntyre, and Benjamin (Rachael) McIntyre; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Rebecca) McIntyre, and Christopher (Patty) McIntyre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Layton was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel A. and Ezekiel A. McIntyre.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Bishop Brian Walton officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater. Online condolences may be shared with the family at johnsonfs.com.
