Benjamin Rathe, a young man with a heart of gold and a passion for life, made his mark in the lives of every person he met, but his own life was cut short when he unexpectedly passed away on June 24, 2010, at the age of 18. Ben will be missed by his mother, Polly; his father, David; his brother, Jake; paternal grandmother, Evelyn; maternal grandfather, Raymond; and aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. His electric blue eyes and breathtaking smile will be remembered by everyone who was blessed enough to meet him. A recent graduate from Ponderosa High School, Ben began working as an intern at Teledyne, where a passion for engineering began to develop as he looked forward to starting his first semester at Folsom Lake College in the fall. Ben's life revolved around the endless hours he spent with both his friends and family. God's greatest gifts to him were his humble nature and empathetic soul, which he selflessly shared with anyone in need. Whether it was lending a smile and shoulder to a tearful friend, or being a rock solid support to fall back on after a bad day, there was no doubt in a single friend or family member's mind that Ben would be there for them. Although his life was short, the memories he shared with his friends and family, as well as the lessons he subtly taught us, will forever be remembered.
