Beth TIGNER Obituary

TIGNER, Beth
Elisabeth (Pfaender) Tigner 'Beth' to all who knew her, was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on October 22, 1919 and passed away on September 6, 2011 In Carmichael, California. She was the loving wife of Earl Tigner for 70 years, devoted mother to Carole and Michael, and caring grandmother of Tim. Beth worked for the Social Security department. After retiring in 1971, she wrote 17 books. Joining fellow writers at California Writers Club in 1975, she served in a variety of capacities as membership chair, treasurer, luncheon coordinator and board member. She was honored with the JacK London Award and lifetime membership. Recently her charming diary detailing her romance with and marriage to Earl between the years of 1941 to 1951 was discovered and became the subject of two newspaper articles. As a child, she asked God to show her the world and he did. She traveled with her parents and siblings to Washington state and California. During Earl's Air Force career, she lived on military bases in Missouri, New York and Sacramento. Planning major annual trips, she finally circled the globe. Among her many destinations were Israel, China, Australia. France. England, and Russia. Always giving, she contributed to a number of charities and offered encouragement to all she encountered, especially fledgling writers. Beth is survived by husband Earl Tigner, daughter Carole Cain, sister Lorraine Liddle, and brothers William and Armin Pfaender.
