Betty Ruecker Obituary

Betty Lou Ruecker

July 2, 1934 - December 18, 2024

Lincoln, California - Betty Lou Ruecker was called home by her Lord December 18, 2024. She was the eldest of five girls born to Paul and Elfrida Meyer in San Benito, Texas. At age 14, her family moved to Oregon where she would finish high school and attend the University of Oregon. Betty met her future husband, Norman at Grace Lutheran Church in Eugene. They were married September 5, 1954, and moved to San Francisco where she worked as a legal secretary for the next five years. The couple bought their first home in San Rafael in 1959. A year later, their oldest son Brian was born, followed by their second son Greg's birth in 1962.

She was active in the PTA, the Marin Tennis Club, golf at Meadow Club and volunteered in various community organizations.

Betty maintained an active faith during her 40 years as the organist of her church. She was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the church choir. In 2004, she and Norm moved to Sun City in Lincoln Hills. She was equally active in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Rocklin.

Betty and Norman traveled often in the United States as well as Japan, Europe and Australia. Although she experienced 25 different surgeries on her back, feet, knees and shoulders, that did not deter her love of sports. She had 49er season tickets for 30 years and was an avid Giants, A's, Sacramento Kings and Oregon Ducks fan.

Betty is survived by sons Brian (Renee), Greg, grandchildren Jordan, Marshall (Jasmin), Kathleen, and great-grandchild, Marshall Jr. She is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Rodgers and Peggy Pitman and two nieces and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LWML, 4701 Grove St., Rocklin, CA 95677.

A Memorial service is planned for February 22, 2025.

Bob and I were blessed to be part of Ruecker´s small group for a few years. Betty was a gracious and wonderful hostess. Norma H. and I regularly brought lunch and enjoyed visiting with Betty after she was bedridden. She is now at peace in heaven.

In Sympathy to the family. Betty has been ready to go to her promised Heavenly home for a while, just waiting for her Lord to call her. Betty was a good friend, fellow church member, and close neighbor. I would stop in to see her on my walks, or she would call me and ask me over for "Happy Hour" with her. After my husband passed, in 2017, they would call and ask me to Join them for visit and Happy Hour together. Both were dear caring friends. I miss Betty already, her smile and friendly welcome! In Christian Love, Sheryl

Betty and her husband led a Bible/life group while they were attending St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Rockin for a number of years. She was wise, devout, faithful servant to the Lord and a good friend. Her family was blessed with her as Mom, Grandma, etc. Sincerely, Peggy Link

Our Friend, Everyone's Admired Lady...Funny & Smart, Tough when she needed to be, Strong in her FAITH, Kind, and Most of all Loved. So many, many, many good times, deep conversations and dinners together at Ruth Chris's' Steak House (and they better remember 5 olives in her Martini or she would send it back). Say Hello to Norm for us and put in a good word for us ...Bob & Barbara Dolezal
