Beverly McCoy Obituary

Beverly JoAnn McCoy

May 28, 1938 - December 26, 2023

Sacramento, California - Beverly JoAnn McCoy went home to her Lord on December 26, 2023. Born Beverly JoAnn Steenberg to Earl "Blaine" and Velva Steenberg in Iowa, she was raised in Ottumwa and became a ballet instructor. In 1959, she moved to California as a new bride. She and Richard E. McCoy settled in Sacramento.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard McCoy; children Cindy Pfister, Jim McCoy, and Sue McCoy, all of Sacramento; grandchildren Tashina McCoy of Wilsonville, Oregon, and Tony Pfister of Sacramento; and half-sisters Levadia Sankpill of New London, Missouri, and Cheryl Mick of Dallas, Texas. She and her husband owned an antique business for 25 years. She enjoyed researching the family's ancestry, antiquing, crocheting and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A private graveside service will be held January 12, 2024 with a celebration of life planned for the future.

Beverly was my 1st cousin. We kept in touch, but not nearly as much as we should have. She was the sweetest person I knew. I was at her wedding when I was ll. I always felt badly that I could not see more of her because she was one of my favorite cousins.
