Sacramento, California - Sacramento Racing Legend William, Billy "Jumbo" Sellers Jr. passed away peacefully after a long illness at local hospital on 9/27/2022 at 9:03am, age of 74. A Sacramento native and Sac High graduate of 1966, Child of long-time racing legend Joe and Irene Sellers. He leaves behind his best friend, cherished loving wife of 54 years, high school 58 years, Mary Sellers; and three remarkably loving children, Billy Sellers, Traca Sellers-Edward's, Latecia Sellers; and brothers, Richard Sellers. Predeceased by Randy Larry Sellers. Jumbo was a very proud Papa to 4 grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Silva, Michael Sellers and William IV Sellers and 2 great-grandsons, Cade Silva and Jameson Cox.
Racing In 1970 he became Hardtop Champion at Placerville Speedway, Raced Hardtops at Auburn Speedway and Rookie of the Year. West Capital Speedway another great track He captured many "Main Events " wins including trophy dashes etc. His car numbers #15 and T bucket 555 #11 #8 #22 Lastly a beautiful Sprint Car #24.
Bills Homecoming will be held this Saturday, October 8th. Meeting only at the Thompson Rose Funeral Home, 3601 5th Ave at 10:00am for a Procession to our home riding proudly in the race car trailer. Luncheon provided upon arrival. Then At 11:30 reloading to Race to the finish line graveside to St Mary's at Fruitridge and 65th for a 12:00 burial. All invited to return back home who wish more food and racing conversation.
"Celebration of Life "to be held October 30th at the Sacramento VFW Hall, Post #67, 2784 Stockton Blvd, near UCD Med Center @ 1:00 p.m. Please rsvp via phone or Facebook for food count for each event. Please come and share great memories! Relax racing casual dress.
