I had the good fortune of sitting next to Bud at dialysis. It is honestly the only thing I looked forward to when I would have to make the trip to the clinic. Today the nurses told me Bud had passed away; I spent the entire time looking at his empty chair, remembering him and all of his great stories. He loved his wife and family so deeply, it was inspiring. We loved to talk about books and he was always curious about what I was reading. Bud never complained even when I could tell he was not feeling well. He never missed an opportunity to express his gratitude and appreciation to the staff and took great pains to help me buy the “right” used car for my college –aged son this summer. Dialysis is a tough road and my journey has become more difficult with Bud's passing. I am so grateful they put us next to each other—I know I am a better person because of Bud. Your family will be in my thoughts.

My dear, sweet, friend, Doris lost the love of her life. I know you can hear me Bud...thank you for loving her in life as I know you still do in death. She always beamed when she was with you and that beam will come back in time. God bless you, dear, sweet Bud.
