Charles Evans Obituary

Dec. 9, 1926 - April 7, 2012, Charles (Chuck) Evans passed away at the age of 85 from Colon Cancer in Clayton, CA. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Married to Margaret Elaine Evans of Clayton for 54 years. Adored by his daughter, Marnie Musser of Sacramento, son Dean Evans and granddaughter Sophia Evans of Martinez. Will be greatly missed by son-in-law John Musser of Sacramento and daughter-in-law Leslie Lingonis of Martinez. Chuck was the only child of Charles D. Evans, Sr. and Margaret Dunn of Sacramento. He graduated from Sacramento High School where he was a football star in 1944, and served in W.W. II. After the war, he attended and graduated from St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA received a Masters from UC Berkeley and his teaching credential from California State University, Sacramento. He had a fulfilling career as a high school English and Film teacher in Japan, Germany, and then settling in Clayton in 1964. He taught for a total of 38 years mostly at Pittsburg High School, retiring in 1991. He also was very civic minded starting on the Planning Commission of Clayton in 1965, City Council member, and then Mayor of Clayton from 1974-1976. He continued to participate on many local committees up until his death. Chuck loved to travel, had a wonderful sense of humor, and a zest for life. Please feel free to donate to the Sacramento SPCA at 6201 Florin Perkins Road, Sacramento, 95825, to honor his love of animals. There will be no services per his request.
