Christine Jacob Obituary

Christine R Jacob

December 9, 1952 - December 23, 2024

Loomis, California - Christine R. Jacob passed away in her home in Loomis, on Monday December 23, just two weeks after her 72nd birthday. She grew up in Dublin, CA, but has lived in Loomis for 27 years.

She was the mother of a daughter, Jamie Kelley, and a son Ryan Patterson. She also had two step-daughters, Rachel Hoey and Tara Gleaton, and 7 grandchildren. They will miss her stories, her love of life, her playfulness and her sterling character. Chris was a born horse lover, but didn't acquire her first horse until she was 40. She made up for lost time, with weekly trail rides, including some as far afield as Pt. Reyes. She was a superb downhill skier, until her knees became issues. She was a part time mermaid, swimming from a very young age, and taking up scuba diving in her mid-teens. She and her second husband, Dennis Hoey, did many dives in Hawaii and the Caribbean. They once kayaked the 17-mile length of the Napali Coast of Kauai. She also enjoyed sailing, and was first mate on bareboat charters all over the Caribbean, and also in Greece, Croatia and Italy. She and Dennis traveled extensively during her last 20 years, visiting more than 30 countries.

She taught third graders for 22 years, at Albert Schweitzer Elementary in Carmichael. She had a large positive impact on most of her students. Many of them stayed in touch with her, throughout her life, even visiting during her nearly 4 years of illness. She was an exceptional grandmother. Beloved by her grandchildren. She loved nothing more than playing the guide with kids in the tropical waters of Hawaii. A grammy who would roll around in the surf with grandchildren at 55. You wanted her as quarterback on your team in touch football. She had a good arm, having played shortstop in high school baseball. And she also taught them the classic games, like "kick the can".

She was very outgoing and made friends with most people she met. Including waiters, bank tellers, and stewardesses. She truly stopped to smell the roses in life.

Chris is survived by two sisters, Susan Jacob and Sherry Williams, and her twin brother Michael Jacob. (Michael is 10 minutes older) She was preceded in death by her parents Norma S. Allan (everyone called her Hap) and Charles R. Jacob.

She was blessed by the many friends and family who came to visit over the last 4 years. She maintained a positive attitude in spite of losing the ability to stand or walk. She was attended in her passing by Susan, her son Ryan, and husband Dennis. She and Dennis were married 35+ years.

Chris was an absolute Jewel, and will be missed by everyone who knew her, not the least of them, her devoted husband. How do you measure a life?

Sean´s favorite teacher at Schweitzer was Mrs. Jacob, 3rd grade. I think he had a schoolboy crush on her! She was a wonderful teacher and a lovely person. Gone too soon.
