JUNKER, Christopher Brand
Of West Brookfield, VT died at home on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 7:15pm after a long battle with cancer. Christopher was born in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York on September 16, 1969, the son of Reynold & Holley (Henning) Junker. He later moved to Sacramento, CA where he attended Rio Americano High School. His education continued at the University of California at Berkeley (BFA in Ethnic Studies) and Harvard University (MA in Theology), and at the time of his untimely death he was pursuing a doctorate in psychology from Antioch University. His professional career was marked by a commitment to service and outreach which included positions as Director of Chaplaincy at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT, and Mount Ascutney Medical Center in Windsor, VT. Concurrent with his academic and professional careers, Christopher had broad volunteer and public service experience that took him around the world serving as a Project Manager for Habitat for Humanity, Program Director for Loaves and Fishes Homeless Service in Sacramento, a Volunteer with At-One-Ment Associates in Kingston, Jamaica, and Counselor at the LaChaim Residential Treatment Center in Richmond, CA. Above all, Christopher will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend and teacher whose spirit, conviction, and courageous presence inspired those lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Robin Kramich Junker and his two sons, Fritz (4 years) and Ulysses (6 months). Also present were his father, Reynold Junker; his sister, Karen; brother, Eric; and many from his strong community of friends. Memorial Services will be held at 2pm Sat., September 29 at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Randolph, VT. A reception will follow. There are no calling hours.
