Claudia FRATES Obituary
FRATES, Claudia Olive
passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 with her family at her side at the age of 82. She was born in Bryte to Pearl & Claude Keeler on August 13, 1929. She is preceded in death by Pearl, Claude and William Keeler.
She graduated from Sacramento High School in 1947, where she was a member of the band and the high school Modern Dance Troupe, queen of the high school Military Ball and Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the ROTC. Attended Sacramento Junior College where she was freshman Queen. Claudia belonged to Delta Sigma sorority, & maintained close relationships with her sorority sisters. On August 21, 1949 she married the love of her life Francis Frates. Claudia volunteered at the Casa De Los Ninos Children's Home for 35 years. She and Fran volunteered at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee for 18 years. She also enjoyed driving their 1965 Buick Riviera and were members of the Buick Club of Sacramento for 15 years. Her joys in life were rose gardening, cooking, spending time at a family cabin in Donner Lake, and sharing her life with family and close friends.
She supported every event for her husband and 3 sons which included room mother every year, little league, skiing and cub scouts. In addition to being a homemaker she worked at Joseph Magnum, Rhodes and was an Avon Presidents club sales representative for 25 years.
Claudia is survived by husband Francis Frates of 62 years, sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy (Nancy), Thomas (Brenda) and Kent (Diane) and nieces Nancy, Diane, Susan, grandchildren Shelley, Jeremy, Josh, great-granddaughter Lexie. There will be no memorial services per her request, but a private memorial celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to Casa Garden Restaurant, 2760 Sutterville Road, Sacramento, CA 95820

We happened upon this guest book for Claudia today and were so sorry to hear about her passing a few years ago. We were deeply touched by all that was written here. She truly was a lovely, kind, loving, and much loved woman.
We lived across the street from the Frates family in the late 50's and early 60's. I baby sat for their boys a few times, and my brother Dave was best friends with Kent. I wish we had had the honor of knowing Claudia through later years.
We send our belated condolences to the Frates family. What a beautiful family!
