Dauna Mae Petersen GARTON

Dauna Mae Petersen Garton, passed away on July 28, 2015 at the age of 80. Dauna was born on November 11,1934 in Utah, to Alma Vinal and Dorothy Eleanor Petersen. Dauna lived the first part of her life in Utah where she married Lamont Edward Christensen and gave birth to two sons- Lamont Vinal and Jeffrey Lynn. The marriage dissolved when the boys were still young. Dauna worked hard to gain an education and care for her boys. She received an Associates Degree in Computer Sciences and began her career in banking. Dauna met and married Paul Francis Garton in 1970 which brought her and the boys to Sacramento California. Dauna continued her career in banking in the Sacramento Valley while Paul worked at The Sacramento Bee as a member of the Typographical Union. They lived a good life together until Paul's passing in 2000. After retirement, Dauna began traveling with her long-time friend Carol. Her travels extended to Europe, the Mediterranean, Australia and several trips to the Orient, Alaska and Hawaii. Dauna is survived by her brother, V. Craig Petersen; step-children, Michael P. Garton and Jacqueline A. Barthlemess; son, Lamont V. Christensen with his wife, Renee and their 8 children; son Jeffry L. Christensen and his 3 daughters; as well as 9 great-grandchildren. A private service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Friends of Dauna's may call for details.
